Samsung announced the new Galaxy S22 lineup, and through this lineup, the South Korean giant is trying to correct some of the mistakes of the Galaxy S21 lineup and re-establish it as reliable flagship smartphones.

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus come with flat screens measuring 6.1 inches and 6.6 inches, both with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

Samsung is the first phone manufacturer to use Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the front and back of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus.

Both phones are available in black, white, green, and what Samsung calls rose gold. The two phones are available for initial order now, and will be available on February 25. And the price starts at $ 800 for the Galaxy S22 and $ 1,000 for the Galaxy S22 Plus.

Both come with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. A model with a higher capacity of 256 GB is also offered. But the same amount of RAM remains.

Of all the usual spec upgrades, the company shines the biggest spotlight on camera performance. And the main 50-megapixel camera contains a sensor that is 23 percent larger than what was inside the Galaxy S21.

Both phones also have a 10MP telephoto (with 3x optical zoom) and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

The company claims to have made great strides in night photography. She says these images are now more detailed. Part of this is also due to pixel binning and Samsung's adaptive pixel technology.

The company is also touting major improvements in portrait shots. She says she can now distinguish individual strands of hair to keep the subject in focus and blur the background more accurately.

The screens on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. But the refresh rate can reach 10Hz depending on the content displayed across the screen to conserve battery.

Samsung is improving cameras and performance

The company says it uses a new Vision Enhancer algorithm to maintain clarity and color saturation even in bright lighting conditions.

And the Galaxy S22 Plus has a peak brightness as high as 1750 nits. But you can only access that in direct sunlight. While the Galaxy S22 has a peak brightness of about 1300 nits.

Both phones are powered by the US-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. But, as usual, they contain Exynos chips in some international markets. The two phones are powered by Android 12 with Samsung’s OneUI 4.1 interface.

The Galaxy S22 contains a 3,700 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S22 Plus comes with a 4,500 mAh battery.

Charging speed is also slower on the Galaxy S22, which is limited to 25W wired charging. While the Galaxy S22 Plus can reach 45 watts. Both are up to 15W via wireless chargers.

Samsung increased its software commitment to four years of major operating system updates. This extended support timeframe applies to the Galaxy S22 lineup, Galaxy S21 lineup, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3.

Galaxy S22 Ultra is the Galaxy Note by another name

The company also announced the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which the information indicated was a Galaxy Note phone, but under another name. The phone offers a 6.8-inch screen, a built-in S Pen, and a set of cameras, at a price of $1,200.

In addition to where the pen is kept, the Galaxy S22 Ultra gains some additional camera upgrades for low-light photography and portraits, faster wired charging, and all the latest components you'd expect to find in a 2022 flagship.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 4 processor. It includes a 6.8-inch OLED screen, and it features a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz. But the peak brightness can reach 1750 nits if you are in direct sunlight.

Other spec upgrades include Gorilla Glass Victus Plus across the front and back, 45W fast wired charging (still 15W wireless), and a version with 1TB of storage. There is a 5,000 mAh battery, 5G, Wi-Fi 6/Wi-Fi 6E, and IP68 support.

The stylus delay time has been improved from 9 milliseconds to 2.8 milliseconds. Samsung says the algorithm that predicts the path a user draws with the pen has also been improved and the handwriting recognition rate is higher (and includes dozens of other languages).

Galaxy S22 Ultra also supports stylus air actions, such as flipping through a photo gallery or controlling the phone's camera remotely, without touching the screen.

And you still get a 108MP main camera, 3x and 10x telephoto cameras, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 40MP selfie camera.

The improvements focus largely on low-light photo and video capabilities. It is now possible to take selfies in night mode, and users can take high-resolution photos in night mode.

The phone is available for initial order from now on, and it comes in black, white, green, or maroon. And the sale of the device begins on February 25, in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB versions. And the 128GB model has 8GB of RAM. While the rest of the copies include 12 GB.
